ABOUT ME - Matthias Schichta
Hello ... my name is Matthias, i was born in June 1982 in Hannover (Germany) and i am german plane spotter since 1998.
It all began at early age, since when airplanes were still airplanes and you could see which type is coming in on the base of smoke which he was generated in the final approach. I went every friday afternoon, together with my grandparents, to Hannover airport and watched the traffic there. At these days old russian aircrafts like Tu-134, Tu-154, Il-76, Il-86 and some Antonov`s were permanent visitors on the main runway which is called "Nordbahn". I wondered where the people are which are standing on the ladder, beheind the fence, and take pictues from the aircrafts. The first contacts were made to the local spotter and i had the feeling that they were very happy about the interest in their hobby. After a short time i became my own camera from my grandpa, a "MINOLTA SR-1" and a little tele-zoom. Later, he also became a Pentax K1000 as second body. The interest in this hobby grew by every visit and every wasn`t enough for me. After the school, than other children did their homework, i took my bike and rode to the airport ... 12km every way. With the conversion from photos into slides, in 1998, i became a new camera ... a Nikon F-60 with two lenses. At this time i also met my best friend, with whom he now-a-days still behind the fence of Hannover airport. Three years after the conversion from photos into slides i took a "little" break which i regretted very much, afterwards! At this time there were a couple of personal and occupational reasons which put unfortunately the hobby in the backround. |
In the summer of 2010 i decided to start again with planespotting. Even the photographic technique wasn´t the same as 10 years before. Photos and slides weren`t up-to-date, digital photography was now the measure of all things. So i need a new piece of equipment and in the context of the financial possibilities, the choice felt on the Canon 50D with two lenses, the Canon EF-S 17-85mm IS and the EF 70-300mm which i had upgrade to the Tamron AF 70-300mm 4-5.6 Di SP VC USD a few years later... which is my equipment in these days.
In recent years, my personal claim to my photos has changed a little bit. Meanwhile, it is no longer enough for me to photograph the plane from the side ... i want to feel the power of it and want to see some details, so some close-up-shots are my favourite one! |
