09.05.2019 Victory parade, City and Khodynka
Today we went early to the city. First stop was Belorussian station were we locked our luggage and went further tot he Kremlin. On this day russia celebrates the victory over Nazi-Germany with a huge Victory parade at the red square. On top of the huge parade there is a fly-over of dozens of Air Force jets and Helicopters and and this fly-over was one main reason for this trip! Thousands of people went to the kremlin as well, but the weather was still very bad, low clouds and bad visibility.
We heard that they kicked-off the parade with Soldiers and tanks but the weather didn’t improve so it came clear that they will cancel the fly-over. At that time I was disapointed because i was very excited and in the past it happend not often that they canceled the fly-over. We went to the city for some shopping and discussing what we will do the rest of the day. After coming out of a shopping mall the sun was shining bright from clear skies. WTF…. Why didn’t the weather improved 2 hours earlier ?! I was pissed to be honest….

We took the metro and headed towards the ZSKA Moscow stadium because there stand a colorfull Tu-134 between residential buildings.
After this we went further 1,5km to the former Khodynka Airfield. Even on google maps you only see one or two hangars but no Taxiway or runway. Its hard to indicate that this was an airfield in the past. You only can see a scrapped airframe on google maps. As we arrived over there it was hard to get a small glimps of that aircraft due to high walls and a lot of trees but in one corner was a smal chance to climb up on a tree to take a picture of it. The aircraft is an IL-114T and it was used as a test frame. Construction number is 01-02.
After this we went back tot he city, grabbed our luggage and headed to our final Hotel in DME. We choosed an Ibis Hotel at the airport. It was clean and cheap. After some heavy rainshowers we decided to try to get some arrival shots from a field facing Runway 14R. Due tot he rain the field was very muddy so after 1 hour we went back to the hotel. In DME we choosed an Ibis Hotel which was good, cheap and clean.
